The EPOA originally went into effect on July 28, 2018 and significantly expanded Washington’s existing gender pay law for the first time since its enactment in 1943. The new amendments, designed to further address income disparities, employer discrimination and retaliation practices, and promote equal status of all workers in Washington state, go into effect July 28, 2019 and include some substantial changes.
