Answer: No, you are not obligated to transfer the call or take a message for the employee. We suggest that your receptionist tell the caller that the company discourages personal calls and to not call the employee at work again. Keep track of the companies that are calling and if they continue to call you can submit a complaint to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. You may also ask the employee to send a letter to the collection agency requesting not to call them at work.
