Archbright Safety Essentials

The catalog is comprised of 30–60-minute lecture-style trainings on general safety topics.

Complimentary On-Site or Virtual Training

An Archbright safety consultant will perform the training in-person or virtually.

Members of our Retrospective Rating Programs receive two complimentary trainings each year.

Confined Space

Employees will learn how to recognize permit-required confined spaces and familiarize themselves with hazards associated with permit-required confined space entry. This training discusses roles and responsibilities, the safety procedures that must be in place for entry, and confined space rescue.

Ergonomics

Poor workplace ergonomics are a leading cause of musculoskeletal disorders and soft tissue injuries. The goal of ergonomics training is to help employees better understand ergonomic hazards in the workplace and give them tools to recognize, report, and mitigate them. This training covers basic elements of workplace ergonomics, such as physical, environmental, and psychological factors, as well as simple strategies for managing them.

Fire Prevention

This training covers basic fire prevention and response principles, including common sources of workplace fires, steps to prevent them, and basic fire response principles. It also includes an introduction to fire extinguishers, including how to choose the right extinguisher for the job, how to perform monthly extinguisher inspections, and the rules for using an extinguisher in the workplace.

Hazard Communication

Hazard Communication training is required for all employees at risk of exposure to hazardous chemicals in the work environment. This training introduces employees to the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for chemical safety, including how to recognize chemical hazards, read Safety Data Sheets, label chemicals, and respond to spills or exposure events. We will also address basic rules for safe chemical use and storage, such as following the manufacturer’s PPE policies.

Hazardous Energy Control (LOTO) for Authorized Employees

Authorized employees must be prepared to maintain personal safety during service or maintenance events by using hazardous energy control methods. This presentation teaches authorized employees to recognize common sources and magnitudes of hazardous energy in the workplace, explains basic lockout/tagout equipment, steps, and rules, and discusses minor servicing procedures (if applicable to the workplace).

Hazardous Energy Control (LOTO) for Affected Employees

Even though affected employees are not directly involved in hazardous energy control, they must still be able to recognize situations where hazardous energy control is used and know how to maintain personal safety. This training covers basic principles of hazardous energy control, a discussion of several frequent sources of hazardous energy in the workplace, an explanation of LOTO, including how to recognize devices, and what to expect from authorized personnel who use LOTO in their vicinity. An optional discussion of minor servicing procedures is included (if applicable to the workplace).

Hazard Recognition and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)

Recognizing workplace hazards is the first step in reducing risk. This training teaches employees how to identify job hazards and apply controls, including using the hierarchy of controls. We discuss hazard recognition tools like audits, incident review, and JHA, including a breakdown of how to perform JHA. While the principles of hazard recognition are relevant to all employees, the focus on using identification tools like JHA makes this training appropriate for a supervisor, lead, or Safety Committee audience.

Machine Safety

This training covers basic machine safety, which includes a discussion of employee responsibilities when using machines (i.e., knowing/understanding controls, locations of e-stops, housekeeping, etc.) and an overview of common machine hazards and safeguarding techniques that employees might encounter in the workplace (i.e., physical guarding, guarding-by-distance, light curtains, etc.).

Optimized Lifting

Optimized Lifting focuses on identifying and mitigating lifting hazards. Training includes an explanation of the anatomy and forces involved in lifting and how employees should prepare for and perform these tasks to reduce the risk of injury.

Workplace Violence

This training teaches employees how to recognize workplace violence, including risk factors and warning signs. We also discuss basic de-escalation techniques and principles of run, hide, and fight for emergency situations.

Heat & Cold Stress

This training covers the fundamentals of recognizing and responding to risks associated with temperature extremes in the work environment. Training includes an overview of heat and cold injuries, their warning signs, and prevention strategies.

Safety Committee Tier 1

This presentation covers the basics of a workplace safety committee, including its purpose and required functions. The intended audience is a safety committee that has just formed, needs a refresh, or wants to educate new representatives on what being on the committee is all about!

Safety Committee Tier 2

This presentation is designed for an established safety committee that wants to take its activities to the next level, using safety tools to integrate the committee into the facility safety program, operations, and culture. During the training, there will be an opportunity to discuss ideas for committee projects and initiatives.
