Course Description

Supervisors and managers are expected to lead effective teams while complying with complex employment laws. This balancing act requires not only a working knowledge of legal basics but also the ability to consistently apply them in real workplace situations.  

The course will assist supervisors and managers in responding appropriately to employee issues related to: pre-employment inquiries, leaves of absence, wage and hour law, discrimination and harassment, and progressive discipline.

Please Note: This course covers compliance topics for organizations with employees located in Washington State. 

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Ask appropriate interview questions
  • Comply with state wage and hour law, ensuring that employees are paid properly
  • Work with HR to manage employee leaves and accommodations
  • Effectively respond to complaints of harassment and discrimination
  • Discipline and discharge employees while minimizing legal risk
