Course Description

Today’s supervisors and managers must skillfully handle intergenerational conflict or risk decreased productivity, poor customer service, and high turnover. With the varied preferences of the four generations regarding communication, respect, boundaries, and priorities, finding the right approach can be challenging.

In Managing Across Generations, supervisors gain an appreciation for the preferences, strengths, and challenges that members of each generation offer. We also cover the motivations of each generation, working with supervisory practice cases to apply the concepts. Since Millennials are expected to make up 50% of the US workforce by 2020, special focus will be given on creating a Millennial-friendly workplace.

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain how your generational context impacts your ability to act inclusively
  • Reduce workplace friction by understanding generational differences
  • Honor, engage and motivate employees of different generations, especially Millennials
