Course Description

This comprehensive program equips HR professionals with the skills needed to excel as an HR business partner. Participants will explore key HR areas in business skills, talent development and internal HR consulting roles so that upon completion, they will be well-prepared to excel in strategic HR roles.

The program consists of three full-day modules: 

Module 1: In this first module, you will be introduced to the concepts that will be covered, review general and necessary business skills for an HR business partner, learn why and how to build a business case, and explore HR metrics that are key performance indicators and data analytics for informed decision-making. 

After completing this module, participants will be able to: 

  • Understand the role of an HR Business Partner and their role in organizational effectiveness
  • Build a business case for key business initiatives
  • Understand the importance of HR metrics and business analytics

Module 2: The role of the HRBP is absolutely critical to key people functions in all organizations. There are many facets to Talent Development, and the HRBP will often lead these efforts. The HRBP also plays a key role in strategic planning, to help match the people needs of the organization with whatever strategic initiatives are implemented. And lastly, in this module, implementing change in the organization is discussed and modeled, specific to the role of the HRBP.    

After completing this module, participants will be able to: 

  • Become a strategic business partner for such functions as recruiting & onboarding, succession planning, learning & development, employee engagement and performance management
  • Develop strategic planning models that are aligned with the organization’s strategic initiatives
  • Understand the important role of the HRBP as it relates to implementing change in an organization 

Module 3: In the final module, we will tie it all together by working through what it means to be an “internal HR consultant” and a true HR business partner in your organization. We will work on several relationship-building skills such as conflict resolution, working towards collaboration, and your presentation skills. And finally, you will have an opportunity to finalize and present your business case to the class.  

After completing this module, participants will be able to: 

  • Develop and enhance your conflict resolution and relationship-building skills 
  • Assess your own professional development, and consider options for your own career path
  • Deliver their business case, which will also enhance their public-speaking skills
